Members of the International Gas Union (IGU) R&D and Innovation Committee visited UBC recently to learn more about Natural Gas Futures activities. The IGU is the industry body for the international gas industry with 140 member companies worldwide. The IGU R&D and Innovation committee monitors technology developments in the gas industry and interfaces with research institutions.
The 30 IGU committee delegates included representatives from Tokyo Gas, GasTerra, CNPC, Osaka Gas, Kogas, Petronas, Equinor, Oman LNG and Gazprom. They toured the Biomass Research Demonstration Facility and the Campus Energy Centre, as well as UBC’s Advanced Propulsion Laboratory.
“I have been impressed with the University of British Columbia’s ambitions and steady progress for a sustainable future,” said Masazumi Hirono of Tokyo Gas and Secretary of the IGU Committee.
